October Ends - Play Time

A ridiculously stylish and slickly produced blend of metal, trap, hip hop and djenty, nu-metal goodness wrapped up in a sickeningly beautiful music video.

OK before I start, there’s one thing that really annoys me!! You are not allowed to sound good AND look good, that’s just plain selfish and you should be ashamed of yourselves!…….

Man this looks and sounds good! I feel like it’s costing me a fortune just watching the video! I love October Ends image and the effort they go to with these visually stunning videos is staggering, let's be honest, these guys look like rockstars and boy does this ultra HD marvel make me feel even more insecure about how uncool I am…….

I didn’t know what to expect with ‘Play Time’ because these guys keep moving the bar and seem to enjoy playing with genre blending and musical experimentation (which I love) I had seen a few teasers for this before release and got a Nu-metal vibe from it but really didn’t want to make any assumptions before hearing and seeing it on camera.

What impresses me most about Play Time is how tastefully produced and arranged it is, I know first hand that these musicians have monster chops cause i’ve seen it with my own eyes! and the nerdy musician in me wants to see instrumental ‘ninjary’ (yes, that’s a word now) but October Ends have got the art of serving the song down!!! This is tight, precise, and just so, so right from start to finish. I love the heavy down tuned riffs, the Mediterranean chilled verse vibes, the METAL! SCREAMS! (jeeeez they’re good) and I even like the rap! because it feels like that’s what the song needs and hasn’t just been shoehorned in.

I know that great production is just a given these days but I still appreciate the hell out of something this finely tuned and cared for.

I really likes this and wish the band every success in the future, Bravo!
